Like most good things Plumbag Project began making bags in response to a personal need. The founder Alexandra John is very passionate about natural and pure materials. When she was a child, her family had a bag they used to gather plums with. It was so beautifully simple in both – its shape and material. Following the example of this “plum bag” Alexandra decided to produce this very bag herself almost 20 years later.

Plumbag Project stands for clarity in design and the beauty of untreated, natural leather. Handcrafted in a little studio in Berlin since 2013, Plumbag Project loves to pay attention to quality in each and every detail.
Our bags are made of smooth, finest Nappa leather from family farm enterprises in Germany. Its natural texture and soft handle is a result of vegetable tanning without synthetic finishing coat. The purely vegetable substances for tanning are tare, valonea, and rhubarb – instead of the customary chrome. And by the way, the leather workmanship is environmentally sustainable and eco-certified.
